Explanation of human behaviour: the capabilities of whyve

In the research field of human behaviour, especially its origin and influencing factors, there is a broad range of scientific studies and analyses. In some cases, whyve uses excerpts from those studies as an inspirational basis but our methodology and conclusions lack a complete scientific verification - even if we naturally wanted to have it. One the one hand, this deficiency stems from a missing focus in existing research. On the other hand, an empirical foundation of the explanation of many human behaviours in today's world is unfortunately no longer possible since our current behaviour has been influenced by our modern environment for centuries.

Thus, our analyses and conclusions on the origin of human behaviour are based on logically derived causal relationships. Inspired by observations and research, we try to work out a possible origin of our observable behaviour and aim to differentiate in particular whether our behaviour has a natural, genetic origin or rather arose from our environment.

Influence on human behaviour: genetic predisposition or environmental influence?

Our analysis focuses on the question whether our observable behaviour has a natural or “artificial” origin. "Artificial" is by no means to be understood as some kind of laboratory influence on our genetics but rather the effect of our social, ecological or economic environment on our everyday behaviour. In principle, it is a matter of clarifying whether our behaviour is either genetically intended (i.e. "innate" in our genes) or whether certain behaviours have been consciously or unconsciously imposed on us by our social circumstances, fellow human beings or environmental changes. With the help of this distinction, the possible background for special use cases of behaviour and also wrong behaviour can be uncovered.

Our mission: ask questions, establish interdependencies and apply findings

Before we delve into the origin and context of our behaviour, it is essential to observe ourselves and our environment and to pose relatively simple questions: Why can't I motivate myself to do sports, why do I eat candy so often and why do I spend countless hours on social media? The pool of questions is almost inexhaustible and there is certainly a different focus for everyone. In the first step, whyve therefore tries to shed light on the questions that are essential to our current behaviour and to classify them into the overarching categories of body, environment and social. The entire subject area therefore offers an enormous future potential for questions and solutions in the social and business environment.

After the initial definition of questions, causal relationships are established as part of the clarification process of our behaviour. In some cases, apparently trivial dependencies can be attributed via intermediate steps either to a concrete genetic mission or to environmental characteristics. Therefore, we differentiate between

Mission - Target - Vehicle - Expression

whereby on the one end expression is the actual observable human behaviour and on the other end mission is meant to be a possible genetic or social purpose.

In the last step of our analysis, the question arises whether and how the findings can be used. At whyve, we constantly develop potential applications of our findings. At the moment, we roughly differentiate between two applications:

1. Private: Individuals can classify their behaviour, understand it and even define individual solutions.

2. Corporate: New and existing companies can take advantage of the found knowledge about human behaviour in their concrete business model, i.e. align your corporate purpose and source of income accordingly.
